Microsoft Releases Windows 11 Preview Latest Build To Insider Community: Here's What's New
The latest build addresses some bugs reported by the insider community
Microsoft has released its latest Windows 11 Preview Build to its "Canary Channel" of users.
Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26200 has several "changes and improvements," according to the Windows Insider Blog. These include:
- An update to the taskbar's Widgets button to make icons clearer, and the addition of animated icons.
- The ability for developers to send notifications to the taskbar button with their custom dashboards for the Widgets board.
- For PCs that are plugged in without batteries (like desktops) the energy saver icon has been reverted to a leaf icon.
The latest build also includes a few fixes to the previous build:
- Fixed an issue with clicking a dead zone inside the notification center.
- Fixed issues with keyboard focus and icons in quick settings.
- Fixed an issue with RemoteApp windows getting cut off with 200 percent scaling.
- Fixed an issue with multiple desktops where setting different wallpapers on each desktop was not working.
The community has also reported some bugs with the build. One is with Copilot, Microsoft's artificial intelligence assistant, auto-launching after a restart.
There are also reports of an issue with voice access and Copilot.
Also, "Copilot in Windows" in preview is being rolled out gradually to Windows Insiders in select global markets. The initial markets for the Copilot in Windows preview include North America, the U.K. and parts of Asia and South America. It is "our intention to add additional markets over time," according to the Windows Insider blog post.
While the latest build is only available to the insider community, everyone else can download Windows 11. Microsoft recommends referring to the PC Health Check app to confirm the device meets the minimum system requirements for Windows 11 and checking the Windows release information status for known issues that may affect it.
